Ricardo was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Growing up, he faced numerous challenges like poverty, gangs, and gun violence. Ricardo struggled with academics, often acting out in class, getting bad grades, and almost dropping out of high school. After graduation, he had no productive or social activities, which led him further into the streets and trouble.
Eventually, Ricardo developed a drug addiction and began spiraling out of control. However, his life turned for the better when he found a job doing campaign organizing. This opportunity changed his life, and Ricardo moved from Chicago to Phoenix to become a community organizer.
Over the last eight years, he has worked on campaigns totaling 37 and has become the President of the Young Democrats. Under his leadership, the organization's membership has grown by over 3,200%, and its fundraising increased by over 13,800%. Ricardo also helped establish new Young Dem chapters in Graham and Santa Cruz counties and relaunched our Pima, UA, Coconino, and NAU chapters.
Ricardo is now a small business owner, focusing on political consulting and government affairs. He recently became a father, which has become a new source of inspiration for his work as a community organizer. Ricardo's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the ability to turn one's life around.
